Rep. Hamilton: Town Hall Held on the Impact of the SAFE-T Act

Rep. Sandy Hamilton addresses the SAFE-T Act Town Hall meeting on Oct. 19, 2022.

State Representative Sandy Hamilton (R-Springfield) served as a panelist with Senator Steve McClure, Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell, Sangamon County States Attorney Dan Wright, and Gray Noll the Morgan County States Attorney to discuss the implications of the new law scheduled to take full effect on January 1, 2023.

“I appreciate the feedback from law enforcement, and legal community that will have to work under these new restrictions, but I am most concerned with the families, communities, and the victims of crime who will have to try to live in our state that will not be safer with more criminals let out on the streets with no bail to keep them from harming others,” commented Rep. Sandy Hamilton. “We need to repeal this bad law and bring all of the concerned groups to craft a law that addresses concerns while making our communities safer, not less safe!”
