Sandy Hamilton is married with three boys and has been a life-long resident of Illinois. She and her husband, Bob, have lived in Springfield for more than 20 years. Her professional experience includes real estate broker with Remax Professionals, Inc., specializing in residential and commercial real estate. She is also a small business owner, co-owning local storage units.

Prior to her election to the House of Representatives, Sandy was on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee and was an Executive Board Member with Capital Area Realtors (CAR). She has been on the Awards Selection Task Force, a current member of Commercial Real Estate Network (CREN), where she served as President. She received the “Community Service Award” from her peers at CAR. Sandy was also appointed to the Economic and Community Development Commission (EDC) starting in 2019.

For more than 30 years Sandy has been a volleyball coach helping young women across central Illinois (high school level) and Parkland Junior College, where the team won the National Championship. Sandy earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign where she played volleyball on a full-ride athletic scholarship. Her team won three Big Ten Championships and also was a Final Four participant her junior and senior year. In her senior year at Illinois she received the “Coaches Award” which was then renamed to the “Sandy Scholtens Award” given to the athlete who embodies work ethic, attitude and team work.
